About

The OMIT Instrument is an analogue tool for stress recovery, experienced individually in short sessions, in a bespoke environment. A ground-breaking innovation in the field of stress relief, it is the result of three years of research & development by an interdisciplinary group composed of members from academia, engineering and the fine arts. Exacting manufacturing and a precise and complex tuning process creates a warm and relaxed sound that induces a state of deep relaxation in users.

Each and every instrument is made by hand by a skilled team of craftsmen and engineers. In every phase of the production one fundamental idea is at the centre – the desire to create strong and profound experiences for its users.

How it works

During a session, the user listens to the tones generated by the instrument for ten minutes while breathing deeply. The effect of these tones, delivered at specific intervals, is known as binaural beats, and create a relaxed state for the user.

A binaural beat is an auditory illusion, and the result of the interaction of two fundamental tones with a slight difference in frequency.

These beats are known to decrease brain frequency, creating a meditative state of deep relaxation and stress relief.

A specific breathing exercise has been created to be used during the session, which in combination with the beats gives the user the full OMIT experience – a deep sensation of relaxation and calm.

The Space

Room Screen

Two spaces, along with a chair, have been designed to accompany the OMIT instrument for its global residencies. The room provides a fully self-contained, light- and sound-insulated environment, and the screen is suitable for quiet, private areas such as hotel rooms.

1. Fine-tuned aluminium bars
The bars generate two fundamental tones. Made from an aluminium alloy selected to produce the best possible sound, they are slightly concave to enable perfect tuning.

2. Saddle
The two hand made, fully adjustable saddles cradling the aluminium bars help sustain the sound.

3. Rubber ball
The ball is made from a rubber compound developed to generate the most effective sound from its impact against the aluminium bars.

4. Solenoid
The solenoid pushes the rubber ball against the aluminium in randomized intervals of 28-34 seconds, creating an impression of imperfection and thus signalling human presence.

5. Resonance tube
The brass tube has a rubber filling precisely placed to enhance and amplify the sound generated by the aluminium bars.

6. Stand
Two vertical stands made of Swedish steel support the instrument to ensure the stability and precision needed for a perfect and consistent sound experience.

Residencies

Following a semi-public residency at Grand Hôtel Stockholm through 2022, the instrument will move into a dedicated Stockholm showroom in December. Details to follow.

The OMIT instrument consists of two components that are easily assembled and connected. It is delivered in a bespoke wooden crate, and includes a comprehensive 56-page book, printed and bound in Italy, dedicated to introducing the OMIT concept, and guiding the user through a session.

The instrument is made to last, with easily interchangeable modules. Designed, built, assembled and fine-tuned in Sweden. Please treat with care at all times.

Terms and conditions

General

These terms and conditions apply to your purchase of any product from OMIT. Upon receiving an order confirmation from an OMIT representative, you enter into the following purchase agreement between you and OMIT AB.

Prices and payment

OMIT reserves the right to withhold an order until payment is made and approved. All prices on the website are stated in euro, and exclude VAT. All payments are to be made in euro, unless stated otherwise.

The OMIT Instrument can either be purchased directly, or leased monthly. For subscription enquiries, please contact subscriptions@omitinstrument.com.

OMIT reserves the right to cancel any order and refund the payment before any product has been shipped.

Withdrawal and ending your subscription

For purchases, you have the right to return the OMIT Instrument, or any OMIT product, within 30 days from the day of receival. Force majeure

OMIT is not liable for defects or delays caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control. Such examples include, but are not limited to, labor disputes or strikes, natural catastrophes, amendments to government authority regulations, issues with power supply, issues with telephone communications, issues with data transmissions, defects or delays in deliveries by OMIT’s sub-contractors, war or fire.

Arbitration

This Agreement shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of Sweden. Any dispute that arises out of or in connection with it or its subject matter shall be determined by the Stockholm District Court and the parties hereby submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Stockholm District Court for such purpose.

OMIT reserves the right, at our sole discretion, to update, change or replace any part of these Terms and Conditions.

Introduction

With this privacy policy, we aim to inform you on how we handle your personal data in relation to making a purchase from us. If you do not wish to share your personal data with us, you are unable to purchase OMIT products from our website. By personal data we refer to any data that can identify a person. Delivery and returns

Each instrument is delivered and installed by a representative from OMIT. Included in each delivery is an introductory session with an OMIT representative. This session can be scheduled either in connection with the delivery of the instrument, or at another date. Upon placing your order, an OMIT representative will contact you to book a date for your introductory session.
